STAATSKOERANT, 19 MEI 2017 No. 40847 355 and to assist with improved aviation safety and security oversight within the AFI Region. Aviation security needs to be in conformity with the principle that the level of security measures is commensurate with the assessed risk or threat. Civil aviation security oversight in South Africa is governed in terms of the Civil Aviation Act, 2009. This Act gives effect to the Tokyo Convention, The Hague Convention and the Montreal Convention. The above-mentioned conventions deal White Paper on National Civil Aviation Policy: February 2017
