DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND TRADITIONAL AFFAIRS

AMENDMENT OF PROVINCIAL GAZETTE No. 687 (Extraordinary) DATED 02
                     DECEMBER 2000, AS AMENDED, ISSUED IN TERMS OF SECTION 12 OF
                     THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT: MUNICIPAL STRUCTURES ACT, 1998( ACT
                     NO. 117 OF 1998) AS AMENDED

I, MLIBO QOBOSHIYANE, Member of the Executive Council responsible for
                     Local Government in the Province of the Eastern Cape, after the consultation
                     process prescribed in section 16 (3) (b) of the Local Government: Municipal
                     Structures Act, 1998( Act No. 117 of 1998) as amended and as per attached
                     schedule, hereby:

Change Paragraph 7 of Part 6 [Makana Local Municipality] published in
                            Provincial Gazette No. 687 (Extraordinary) dated 02 December 2000, as
                            amended, from [The Council of the local municipality may not designate any
                            Office Bearers as full time] to [The Council of the local municipality may,
                            subject to the conditions contained in paragraph (6)(2) in this Part, designate
                            any of the following Office Bearers as fulltime] in terms of section 16 (1)(d) of
                            the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act 117 of 1998) as
                            amended.

Specify the Office Bearers that may be designated as full time in Paragraph 7
                            of Part 6 [Makana Local Municipality] published in the Provincial Gazette
                            No. 687 (Extraordinary) dated 02 December 2000, as amended.

Finally designate the Speaker in respect of Makana Local Municipality as
                            fulltime in terms of Sub-item 6(2)(b) of the Provincial Gazette No. 687
                            (Extraordinary) dated 02 December 2000 and with effect from the first day
                            of the month following the final publication of the amendment of Section 12
                                  '> hment Notice in the Provincial Gazette.
