                     DEPARTMENT OF CO-OPERATIVE GOVERNANCE AND TRADITIONAL AFFAIRS

NOTICE  IN  TERMS OF  SECTION 16(3)(c) OF THE  LOCAL  GOVERNMENT:  MUNICIPAL
                 STRUCTURES ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 117 OF 1998): MTUBATUBA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY

1. The Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council responsible for Co-operative Governance
                 and Traditional Affairs, in his capacity as the Member of the Executive Council responsible for
                 local government, under the powers vested in him by section 16(1)(d) of the Local Government

Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act No. 117 of 1998), to amend notices issued in terms of section
                 12 of the said Act, and in order to give effect to a decision by the Municipal Council of the
                 Mtubatuba Municipality to designate the Whip of Council, the Chairperson of the Municipal Public

Accounts Committee and the Chairperson of the Women’s Caucus, proposes to publish the
                 following notice:
                      “I, Sihle Zikalala, Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council responsible for local
                      government, under powers vested in me by section 16(1)(d) read with section 18(4) of the

Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act No. 117 of 1998), hereby determine
                      that the Mtubatuba Municipality may, in addition to the Speaker, Mayor and Deputy Mayor,
                      designate the Whip of Council, the Chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee

and the Chairperson of the Women’s Caucus as  full-time Councillors.”

2. The public and interested parties are invited to submit comments in writing on the proposed
                 amendment by no later than seven days after the date of publication hereof, by–

(a)  post  to the  Head  of  Department,  Co-operative Governance and  Traditional Affairs,
