                     DEPARTMENT OF COOPERATIVE GOVERNANCE AND TRADITIONAL AFFAIRS

NOTICE  IN  TERMS  OF  SECTION  16(3)(c)  OF  THE  LOCAL  GOVERNMENT:  MUNICIPAL

STRUCTURES ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 117 OF 1998): ABAQULUSI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY

1. The Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council responsible for Cooperative Governance

and Traditional Affairs, in his capacity as the Member of the Executive Council responsible for
                local government, under the powers vested in her by section 16(1)(d) of the Local Government

Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act No. 117 of 1998), to amend notices issued in terms of section
                12 of the said Act, and in order to give effect to a decision by the Municipal Council of the
                Abaqulusi Local Municipality to designate the Whip of Council, Chairperson of Municipal Public
                Accounts  Committee  and  nine  (9)  Executive  Committee  Members  as   full-time  Councillors,

proposes to publish the following notice:
                      “I, Sipho Hlomuka, Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council responsible for local

government, under powers vested in me by section 16(1)(d) read with section 18(4) of the
                      Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act No. 117 of 1998), hereby determine
                      that the Abaqulusi Local Municipality may, in addition to Speaker, Mayor and Deputy Mayor,
                      designate  Whip  of  Council,  Chairperson  of  Municipal  Public  Accounts  and  nine  (9)

Executive Committee Members as full-time Councillors.”

2. The public and interested parties are invited to submit comments in writing on the proposed
                amendment by no later than seven days after the date of publication hereof, by–
                      (a) post to the Head of Department, Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs,
