Property Rates By -Law

In accordance with section 162 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act No.
               108 of 1996), and section 6 (1) of the Property Rates Act (Act No. 6 of 2004), the
               Siyathemba Municipality has adopted the following Property Rates By-Law, in terms of
               council resolution on 29th May 2015, to give effect to the implementation of its Property
               Rates Policy.

By -law No. 1, 2013 PROPERTY RATES BY -LAW, 2015

BY -LAW

To provide for the implementation and enforcement by the Siyathemba Municipality
               of its Rates Policy and for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the Siyathemba Municipality, as follows: -
               Definitions

1. In this By -law, unless the context otherwise indicates - "Municipality" means the
               Siyathemba Municipality; and

"Act" means the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, 2004 (Act
               No. 6 of 2004).

Implementation and enforcement of policies

2. (1) The Municipality must, pursuant to section 6 of the Act, and any national or provincial
               legislation regulating local government finance, give effect to its Rates Policy drafted and
               adopted in accordance with section 3 of the Act, by implementing and enforcing such policy.

(2) Any person, natural or juristic, who lays claim to any rebate, reduction, or exemption
               under the Rates Policy, must provide the information required and meet the obligations
               imposed by the Municipality in terms of such policy.

Short title

3. This By -law shall be called the Property Rates By -Law, 2015

Commencement

4. This By -law shall come into effect on the 1st day of July 2015.
